So apparently I am very bad at planning my time when it comes to doing personal projects; I'm honestly not surprised. I've always been very organized when it comes to tangible items and the likes, but time management I'm lacking in. I guess I just hate to be restricted.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who is cramming for the holidays right now though, and that's where most of my time is going. Since the economy is really hitting hard, rather than spend money on gifts I decided to save it, and am instead just buying some materials and have been creating them myself. I know, you'd expect me to take some pretty photos for people, but I felt that this would be more personal. So that's been eating up a lot of my time.
Still, I have ideas.
The origami is in the works, it just became heavily delayed when I had to order new gels. I don't know what happened to my old ones, but one day they were where they belonged, and then when I went to use them they weren't there. I tore apart every feasible room they could have been in, and have not succeeded in finding them. Thankfully, if I do find them now that I've bought new ones, I can still use them for more intense colours. So it won't be a wasted purchase. But now that I have gels again, as soon as I can be bothered to make the time to rig up what I'd like to do, I will have a new fine arts piece.
In fact, I will have two because I joined a Secret Santa Card Project on DeviantART, and that is due by the 24th. Which is less than ten days away, so I had better get crackin'. It's looking like I'll be creating some sort of reindeer and Santa scene for it, since that would follow the theme this person set down. We shall see, but believe me, it'll be origami once again. And maybe some cotton ball snow, who knows. Certainly not I. Yet.
Speaking of snow, it has begun to fall from the sky in these parts, and now I'm just waiting for the right kind of snowfall so that I can photograph it in the morning light. I'm looking to do some infrared with it as well, but that's going to require some serious amounts of dedication and warm clothing, since it's freezing now! Hopefully my camera batteries won't become so cold that they refuse to operate. But I have some beautiful ideas for that as well, so please look forward to it!
I was also able to purchase a beautiful new painted muslin background as well, and I'm planning to use it as a backdrop for photographing our two kittens. They're starting to get a bit bigger and less hyper, so now is the perfect time to capture how cute they are. Hopefully I can make them pose long enough for this to work as I see it in my mind, but it rarely ever does.
I've also been in contact with a local belly dance troupe, and will be doing some photography for them coming up soon--all posed in a studio, with lights to capture the action. I'd attended shows before, but unfortunately I don't have the proper flash to do night photography, and so it didn't go all that well. As much as I love my Nikon D200, it's very bad with the higher ISOs. Not sure if this is common or not, but it drives me crazy.
If I get the time, I'd also like to do some classic pin-up stuff with friends of mine. But that's definitely a much later project, as it will take time to plan. But once it goes down, you can expect some beautiful imagery, I promise!
Normally in winter I am terrible about keeping up with photography, since it gets dark so early and everything is so blahze outside. However I'm hoping that this year with all these ideas swirling around that such a thing doesn't happen. My goal is to try and have new imagery every two weeks, so be watching for it! As soon as the holidays are over, I'm going to try my best!
I hope everyone will cheer me on.

ReplyDeleteI hope the batteries hold up.
Thanks! I hope so too since it's been -4 degrees F on average here lately. D:
